Quilcene Fire Rescue appreciates the support we received from the Community on our recent EMS levy.

Below is a letter of Thanks published in the PT Leader, May 4, 2016 written by Chief Larry Karp.

LETTER: QFR thankful for EMS levy

On behalf of the Quilcene Fire Rescue (QFR) Board of Fire Commissioners, Citizen Levy Committee and QFR staff, I’d like to express our collective appreciation and huge thank-you to the community for supporting our recent emergency medical services (EMS) levy.

We will continue to be fiscally responsible, transparent and focused on providing quality, cost-effective emergency medical services.

We’d like to thank the Port Townsend Leader and reporter Nicholas Johnson for covering the volunteer recruitment challenges of the county fire districts in general, and specifically the Quilcene EMS levy. The front-page articles were critical in the conveyance of information about the levy and why it was needed at this time, while also highlighting our need for more volunteer members.

Lastly, we’d like to thank Quilcene resident Christine Satterlee and her citizen levy committee for all their hard work. They helped get the message out into the community about our financial needs and the importance of the EMS levy.

The past several months have been a valuable learning experience for all of us at QFR. We have become better listeners and more responsive to the needs of our community. We want to stress that we do not take this trust lightly. We are committed to using levy funds efficiently and effectively to address the needs of our community.

A thank-you BBQ sponsored by the Quilcene Emergency Volunteer Association is in the works, and details will be released shortly.

As chief of Quilcene Fire Rescue, thank you all for your support.

LARRY KARP
